Sri Lanka is transforming its education system to take its economy to the next level.
A civil engineer by training, Manjula Amerasinghe has been with the ADB since December 2003. First as a national staff at the Sri Lanka Resident Mission and then as environment specialist in the South Asian Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture Division as environment specialist. She is currently back at the Sri Lanka Resident Mission as project management specialist. She has processed projects in the agriculture and natural resources sector, administered projects in agriculture and natural resources, urban, water supply and sanitation, public financial management, multi-sector, and post conflict and post disaster emergency assistance. She has also being actively involved in designing projects in former conflict affected areas in Sri Lanka. As environment specialist she has worked across south asia in ensuring application of environmental safeguards in the design and implementation of projects. She holds Masters Degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA in Urban Studies and Planning and from the Asian Institute of Technology in Environmental Engineering.
