Wimal Nanayakkara’s research interests include poverty and development policy. He is a visiting lecturer at the University of Moratuwa and was the director general of the Department of Census and Statistics (1994–2006) in Sri Lanka. He holds a BSc (University of Peradeniya) and a post graduate diploma (University of Reading) in Applied Statistics.
